Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas.
Remember if you’re going shopping the day after Christmas, pick up some LED lights for next year. Start working on a green Christmas for next year.

I found this wonderful article in one of the many magazines I buy (usually used, at our public library) that told all the wonderful energy saving virtues of using a crock pot. It was full of great facts and now I can’t find the magazine anywhere to share the numbers with you. What I do remember, it cost less than 20 cents of energy to use your crock pot for the 4-6 hours it runs. Compare that to the energy consumed in using your oven. (when I find the article, I will edit this post and give you the exact numbers. )(those of you who know me know how often I misplace things LOL)
Some months back I had discovered a wonderful blog, crockpot365.blogspot.com/. There are so many good recipes there. I didn’t know how versatile a crock pot could be.
Now if I could just find a web site that gave me ideas of things I could cook on the top of my wood burning stove. I think that heat could be used for more than heating water for tea.

My cute little shop in Brasstown had a problem with insulation. I couldn’t do anything about the walls but I sure could about the gaping space under my door. My favorite handyman installed a bug sweep and now the breeze is gone. It was so bad, leaves would come in when the wind kicked up.
Next we set in the door closure back so the door would close tighter. and finally we added weather stripping to all the windows. Now I will save energy and keep toasty warm.
These are tips you can use around you home or business too. It cost less than $10 and took less that a half hour.

I had to take a little time off from this blog because we moved. I had a cute little mountain cottage with very little land and soil that was red clay and rocks. I wanted something where I could raise chickens and Angora bunnies and have an organic garden. I also needed a place that we could make “as green as it could be”. Well, we found it. In up coming shows you will see the house as it is now and we will keep you “posted” on the new and green additions.
As you can see there is room for a garden and almost anything else I want to add. I have all the issues of Mother Earth News from the beginning up until the 80’s. I have read them over and over. Now I hope to put all that information to work. Hope you’ll follow the journey on this green path of mine. As we progress, maybe you’all can send me suggestions of how to do things better.
Our first pod cast will be in Janurary. I’m looking forward to it, hope you’ll check it out.
